This hand-knotted necklace is made of Hawk-Eye and Baroque Fresh Water Pearls. It is 27 inches long, and finished with a lobster-claw clasp.

Hawk-Eye is a mineral that displays chatoyancy, the "cat's eye' effect. Hawk-Eye is created by silicon dioxide depositing out of water of ver a period of time. The chatoyancy comes about because of the layering as the silica is deposited, light reflects between the layers. The various colors come about because of other dissolved minerals, iron and magnesium, primarily, Over time, a million years or so, the iron will oxidize and Hawk-Eye will become the gem-stone Tiger-Eye.
